I used to criticize others a lot – sometimes to myself, sometimes to their face, and sometimes to others. I thought this was normal, though, I confess, it never felt good.
I finally got tired of feeling badly and wanted to feel better but didn’t know how to get there. So, I decided to ask God for help. Shortly after that, I heard a pastor speak on Romans 2:1-3 where it says that when we criticize others, “we actually do the same things.” The pastor also said that when we share how we do the “same things,” forgive the person who criticizes us, thank Jesus for forgiving me, Jesus remove the bad feelings. So I tried what the pastor said and it worked! Jesus took the bad feelings away! Now I try to not criticize others or myself, but when I slip up and do it, I know what to do and how to get back out of the bad feelings! I admit that, “I do the same things,” I forgive myself and I thank God for forgiving me. Then Jesus removes the bad feelings and the good feelings return! It also helps when I try to look for the good things in myself and others.
